SINKEX 2014- Determination and Agreement between Navy and EPA

Upon review of the Marine Protection, Research, and Sanctuaries Act General Permit for the Navy’s Sink Exercise (SINKEX) Program, EPA determined that the activity authorized under the Permit for the SINKEX program conducted by Navy does not pose an unreasonable risk of injury to human health or the environment. The Determination and Agreement clarifies EPA’s interpretations of the Permit, and also identifies Navy’s specific agreements related to SINKEX vessel preparation, the removal of PCBs, and the documentation of each, when Navy conducts future SINKEX activities under the Permit.
