We plan our work with the goals of influencing resolution of the EPA’s major management challenges, reducing risk, improving program operations, and saving taxpayer dollars, leading to positive human health and environmental impacts. Our strategic plan provides a unified direction with clear expectations.

OIG Independence of EPA

The EPA's Office of Inspector General is a part of the EPA, although Congress provides our funding separate from the agency, to ensure our independence. We were created pursuant to the Inspector General Act of 1978, as amended Exit.
