Label Review Training: Module 1: Label Basics, Page 5

Section 1: What is a pesticide label?

Key Points

  • A pesticide label provides critical information about how to safely and legally handle and use pesticide products.
  • A label can be found directly on or attached to a pesticide product or its packaging. Labeling includes the label, as well as material that is not directly on or attached to the product or its packaging.
  • A pesticide is a product intended for preventing, destroying, repelling, or mitigating any pest, or intended for use as a plant regulator, defoliant, or desiccant.
  • Throughout this online training, and as you conduct label reviews, you should regularly consult the Label Review Manual for more information.
