Section 1: What is on the front panel?

Worker Protection Labeling on the Front Panel

The Worker Protection Standard (WPS), which will be discussed further in Module 3, establishes standards and labeling requirements for the protection of certain occupational users of pesticides, including agricultural workers and handlers. Products subject to the Worker Protection Standard have special requirements that affect the following front panel label areas:

  • Signal word: Products subject to the Worker Protection Standard that are classified as Toxicity Category I or II must also bear the corresponding Spanish signal word (“Peligro” for Toxicity Category I; “Aviso” for Toxicity Category II), followed by this statement: “Si usted no entiende la etiqueta, busque a alguien para que se la explique a usted en detalle. (If you do not understand the label, find someone to explain it to you in detail.)”
