EPA Accepting Public Comments on Candidates for the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act Scientific Advisory Panel (FIFRA SAP)

For Release: August 12, 2019

On August 12, 2019, EPA published a Federal Registernotice (FRN) providing the names and professional affiliations of persons recently nominated to serve on the Scientific Advisory Panel (SAP) established under section 25(d) of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). Selected additional biographical data for these nominees are available at www.regulations.gov (docket number EPA-HQ-OPP-2019-0448). The Agency anticipates selecting three new members to serve on the panel to replace members whose terms will expire during the next year.

Public comments on the nominees are invited on or before September 11, 2019. These comments will be used to assist the Agency in selecting the new members for the chartered panel. Comments may be submitted to docket ID number EPA-HQ-OPP-2019-0448. For additional information, please see the FRN or contact Steven Knott (knott.steven@epa.gov), M.S., DFO, Office of Science Coordination and Policy, Environmental Protection Agency (202-564-0103).

The FIFRA SAP serves as a primary scientific peer review mechanism of EPA’s Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention and is structured to provide scientific advice, information and recommendations to the EPA Administrator on the impact of pesticide regulatory actions and pesticide-related issues on health and the environment. The panel was created on November 28, 1975, and made permanent by amendment to FIFRA on October 25, 1988.
