How EPA Implements the Privacy Act

In accordance with the E-Government Act of 2002 Exit, EPA maintains an inventory of Federal Information Systems (FIS) that collect personally identifiable information (PII). System of Records (SOR) are any of those systems that retrieve information by a personal identifier, for example:

  • Name
  • Social Security Number
  • Biometrics
  • Date of Birth

EPA publishes a Privacy Act Systems of Records Notice (SORN) in the Federal Register explaining the existence, character and uses of a new or revised SOR, which are covered by the Privacy Act.
