Risk Assessment Current Projects

The Risk Assessment Forum focuses on issues fundamental to risk assessment. As a result, Forum consensus building activities may include definitive risk assessment guidance and risk assessment methodology. Ongoing projects include:

  • Cumulative Risk Assessment Guidelines: EPA is developing additional guidelines for cumulative risk assessment (CRA) as defined and characterized in the EPA 2003 publication Framework for Cumulative Risk Assessment, an analysis, characterization and possible quantification of the combined risks to health or the environment from multiple agents or stressors. The guidelines will arrange CRA methods into a structure based on EPA's past experience.
  • Revision of the 1992 Guidelines for Human Exposure Assessment
  • Multiple projects addressing recommendations presented to the agency in reports issued by the National Research Council
