Optimization Review, Black Butte Mine Superfund Site, Lane County, Oregon

The BBM Superfund Site (the site) is located in Lane County, Oregon, approximately 35 miles southeast of Eugene and approximately 10 miles upstream from the Cottage Grove Reservoir (CGR). Mercury mining and processing operations were active at the site from the late 1890s to the late 1960s. The site has been identified as a significant contributor of mercury to sediment and fish tissue in CGR. EPA Region 10 (Region 10) entered the site on the National Priorities List (NPL) in 2010.
