Remediation System Evaluation, SMS Instruments Superfund Site

The SMS Instruments Superfund Site is located at 120 Marcus Boulevard in Deer Park, Suffolk County, New York. The site consists of a 34,000 square foot building located on a 1.5-acre lot that is surrounded by other light industrial facilities. A recharge basin is located adjacent to the property to the east. Facility operations occurred between 1967 and 1990 and primarily involved overhauling of military aircraft components. These activities consisted of cleaning, painting, degreasing, refurbishing, metal machining, and testing components. The current uses, under different ownership, include the manufacturing of wooden kitchen utensils.
