Join us for a Science to Achieve Results (STAR) Research Grantee Kick-off Meeting and Webinar announcing grant recipients awarded under the Request for Applications (RFA) Healthy Schools: Environmental Factors, Children’s Health and Performance, and Sustainable Building Practices. Registration is free and open to the public.

These grants were awarded in support of research projects that focus on studying the relationship between environmental factors in K-12 educational facilities and the safety, health, and academic performance of children, and the effectiveness of teachers and staff. STAR grantees will describe their planned research and hear from EPA programs and a regional schools coordinator about EPA’s programs and resources. A guest speaker will provide a lunchtime seminar.

These projects are in line with EPA’s Sustainable and Healthy Communities (SHC) Research Program. The SHC Research Program provides useful science and tools for decision makers at all levels to help communities advance sustainability as well as achieve regulatory compliance. SHC is collaborating with partners to conduct research that will result in science-based knowledge to guide decisions that will better sustain a healthy society and environment in America's communities.  The research is intended for decision-makers at the federal, regional, state and community levels.
