RTP Speakers Bureau

Robert J. Wayland, Ph.D.

Dr. Robert Wayland works in EPA's Office of Air Quality Planning & Standards (OAQPS). He is the leader for OAQPS's Health and Environmental Impacts Division’s (HEID) Risk and Benefits Group, where he focuses on estimating risk and exposure for the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQSP and assessing health benefits for air regulations. Dr. Wayland has over 30-years’ experience in air quality programs, including experience with EPA's ozone, particulate matter and air toxics programs and as a Senior Scientist with Science Applications International Corporation's (SAIC) Environmental Science and Engineering Division.

Dr. Wayland received his B.A. (1981) and M.S. (1983) in Environmental Sciences from the University of Virginia, and his Ph.D. (1991) in Atmospheric Sciences from N.C. State University (NCSU). He is an active member of the American Meteorological Association and the American Geophysical Union, and has served as an adjunct Assistant Professor at NCSU in the Marine, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences Department.
