Amway Corporation, Ada, MI
Amway Corporation is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. Amway has 44 formulas that now bear the Safer Choice label, a 26% increase from 2015. Amway has taken steps to increase awareness of the Safer Choice program in China by participating in the China Cleaning Products Industry annual conference in 2016 and creating a Chinese-language version of the Safer Choice label, which they plan to display on the front panel of their Chinese recognized products.
Anderson Chemical Company, Litchfield, MN
Anderson Chemical Company is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. Anderson Chemical is the program’s longest-standing partner and currently has 17 Safer Choice-certified products. The company has embraced the program’s continuous improvement ethic, often enhancing its formulations over the years. Anderson Chemical prominently features the Safer Choice label on its packaging and promotes its Safer Choice-certified products on their website. Of note, Anderson Chemical is active in formulating many of its nearly 300 formulations with CleanGredients® materials.
Berkley Green, Uniontown, PA
Berkley Green is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. A woman- and family-owned business, Berkley Green formulates, manufactures, and markets Safer Choice-certified products. Safer Choice applauds Berkley Green’s commitment to the program, demonstrated by its prominent use of the Safer Choice label on the company website and development of additional Safer Choice-certified product categories. In 2016, Berkley Green created dryer sheets using a technology without volatile organic compounds.
Boulder Clean, Boulder, CO
Boulder Clean is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. Boulder Clean has demonstrated a commitment to the Safer Choice program by continually expanding its offering of Safer Choice-certified products since becoming a Safer Choice partner in 2013. The company now has nine products in the marketplace featuring the Safer Choice label on the front of the packaging. With over 98% of its total sales consisting of Safer Choice-certified products, Safer Choice commends Boulder Clean for a strong commitment to safer product formulations, as well as being a voice for the Safer Choice program in social media.
Case Medical, Inc., South Hackensack, NJ
Case Medical is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. Case Medical is commended for its strong commitment to the Safer Choice program, prominent use of the Safer Choice label, and identification of a target audience for education and promotions. Safer Choice applauds Case Medical for its strong record of collaboration with Safer Choice staff on outreach, including a webinar series.
Clean Control Corporation, Warner Robins, GA
Clean Control Corporation is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. Clean Control Corporation is a small business that uses environmentally preferred chemistry to formulate household and industrial cleaning solutions. Clean Control Corporation has demonstrated a strong commitment to developing a variety of innovative products since becoming a partner in 2004. Safer Choice commends Clean Control Corporation for its steadfast support of the program and its prominent use of the Safer Choice label on its products. The company added four new Safer Choice-certified products in 2016. The company also exercises sustainability in its operations through water reuse, use of photovoltaic cells for energy generation, and motion-sensitive lighting.

Cot’n Wash, Inc. is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. Cot’n Wash has been in the environmentally-oriented laundry detergent business since 2008, when it first received recognition for its products by EPA’s Design for the Environment Program. In 2016, Cot’n Wash continued its commitment to leadership through product reformulation and packaging improvement to maximize product safety by taking full advantage of advances in technology in the sector. Cot’n Wash prominently features the Safer Choice label in its marketing campaigns for Safer Choice-certified products.
Earth Friendly Products, Garden Grove, CA
Earth Friendly Products is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. The company is a manufacturer of green household and commercial cleaning products dating back to 1967, with a focus on maintaining high standards while incorporating environmentally sustainable raw materials, features, and manufacturing processes. Safer Choice commends Earth Friendly Products for its outstanding achievement in focusing on gentle surfactants and reformulating fragrances to obtain the Safer Choice label. Earth Friendly has the most Safer Choice-certified products (70) over any other manufacturer. In 2016, Earth Friendly was a leader in establishing new Safer Choice-certified products, including one product in the new category of pet care products.
GOJO Industries, Inc., Akron, OH
GOJO Industries, Inc. is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. In 2016, GOJO launched three product lines and 20 unique items. Notably, its PURELL surface sprays are the first and only Design for the Environment (DfE) Antimicrobials Pilot labeled product with an ethanol active ingredient. In rolling out its PURELL surface sprays in the latter half of 2016, GOJO delivered 40 thousand samples and 50 thousand brochures to end users. These samples and materials prominently featured information about DfE. GOJO also developed educational and promotional tools and a training program about Safer Choice/DfE for stakeholders, including distributor sales representatives.

Jelmar is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. Jelmar is a company committed to designing products with the environment and human health strongly in mind. Safer Choice recognizes Jelmar for its leadership in promoting Safer Choice-certified products, which are a large proportion of its total sales, and for increasing its number of Safer Choice-certified products over the past decade. Of special note, the company has shown exceptional leadership in promoting its safer products through a variety of channels—including TV, video, and mixed media—to target consumers, providing helpful information about the Safer Choice label and program. In total, Jelmar’s advertising featuring the Safer Choice label resulted in more than 737 million impressions in 2016. Additionally, Jelmar has demonstrated a strong commitment to innovations in safer chemistry and advancing the Safer Choice program through the development of novel products that carry the Safer Choice label.
Krud Kutter Inc. A Rust-Oleum Co., Cumming, GA
Krud Kutter Inc. is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. Since 2012, Krud Kutter has expanded its offering of Safer Choice-certified products from two to nine recognized products. Safer Choice applauds Krud Kutter’s commitment to the program and investment in direct release approved surfactants for its outdoor products.
Osprey Biotechnics, Inc., Sarasota, FL
Osprey Biotechnics is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. Osprey Biotechnics, a woman-owned business, develops microbial products and bioproducts for a large range of environmental, industrial, and agricultural applications, including consumer products. Safer Choice commends Osprey’s dedication to Safer Choice, demonstrated by a section of its website focused on the program and videos it has created for each of its private label products. The company demonstrates excellence in environmental stewardship through its emphasis on water recycling, safer chemical substitution, and soil and animal health in its manufacturing processes.
PRIDE Industries, Roseville, CA
PRIDE Industries is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. Safer Choice commends PRIDE Industries for its prominent use of the Safer Choice label on its products, which are all Safer Choice certified, and for its educational and trade show promotions. Recently, PRIDE used the Safer Chemical Ingredients List to reformulate custom-blended formulas. The company also reaches large-volume markets and specifically explains the meaning of the Safer Choice label. Also, PRIDE Industries emphasizes the importance of safer products to sensitive populations, opening new markets for the Safer Choice label.
Reckitt Benckiser, LLC (RB), Parsippany, NJ
Reckitt Benckiser, LLC (RB) is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. RB has four Safer Choice certified products. RB has taken a leadership role in expanding the Safer Choice program to include qualified antimicrobial products and potentially other segments. This company has developed an internal “Restricted Substance List” with which it aims to stay ahead of legislative changes and exceed minimum regulatory requirements for chemical ingredients. RB is currently reviewing its cosmetic products for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Safer Choice certification. Further, RB is a passionate and committed advocate for Safer Choice. The company works with Safer Choice staff and the Consumer Specialty Products Association to educate and promote the program to the public.
Seventh Generation, Burlington, VT
Seventh Generation is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. Seventh Generation is a company that strives to formulate products that are effective while still meeting high standards for environmental and human safety. A long-standing partner of the Safer Choice program, Safer Choice commends Seventh Generation for its strong record in developing new Safer Choice-certified products, and promoting the Safer Choice label in its advertising and on products, as well as its leadership in advocating for innovations in safer chemistry and safer product design. Of note, in 2016 Seventh Generation launched the first Safer Choice-certified powdered laundry pack.

State Industrial Products is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. More than 50% of this company’s products are Safer Choice certified. State Industrial Products is committed to formulating all new green products using the CleanGredients® database and the Safer Chemicals Ingredients List. State Industrial Products’ website prominently features the Safer Choice label, and the company heavily promoted Safer Choice by participating in the Spring Cleaning Initiative in 2016.

Clorox is a strong partner of the Safer Choice program and consistently demonstrates its commitment to environmental stewardship through its sustainability program. EPA commends Clorox for its partnership with Safer Choice over its Green Works line of cleaners and detergents, promotion of the Safer Choice program to purchasers, and its continued commitment to innovations in safer chemistry.
