Booyah Clean, Harahan, LA
Booyah Clean is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. Safer Choice commends Booyah Clean for its continuous commitment to the program since becoming a partner in 2015. Booyah Clean added seven new Safer Choice-certified products in 2017 and promoted Safer Choice through videos on YouTube, Facebook, blogs, commercials and numerous trade, industry, and partner outreach events. Booyah Clean placed their Safer Choice-certified products in more than 1,000 Walmart stores. Booyah Clean’s leadership in formulating products for marine applications that meet Safer Choice criteria for outdoor use addresses a unique safer chemistry need.

Boulder Clean is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. Boulder Clean has demonstrated a commitment to the Safer Choice program by continually expanding its offering of Safer Choice-certified products since becoming a Safer Choice partner in 2013. Adding the label to the front of packages of the entire Safer Choice-certified product line in 2017 resulted in an increase in sales. The company now has 10 products in the marketplace featuring the Safer Choice label on the front and back of the packaging. The company opened their first distribution center in the Midwest in 2017, to support the growth in demand for Safer Choice-certified products. Safer Choice commends Boulder Clean for a strong commitment to safer product formulations, their expansion into new regional and national retail markets, and their promotion of the Safer Choice program on social media in 2017.
Brandless, Inc., San Francisco, CA
Brandless, Inc. is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Retailer. Safer Choice applauds Brandless for having 100% of their home cleaning products Safer Choice-certified in 2017. Brandless features Safer Choice on the front of their product labels and in media campaigns. Brandless conducted several campaigns to educate their community of over 1 million email subscribers and social media followers about Safer Choice. Safer Choice commends Brandless for its dedication to the program and its commitment to safer chemistry.
Breathe, Vernon, CA
Breathe is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. In 2017, Breathe introduced a Safer Choice-certified aerosol cleaning line. The company features Safer Choice prominently on their product labels and website. Safer Choice applauds Breathe for their innovative products and extensive promotion of the program through outreach on TV and social media, which has reached millions of people.
The Honest Company, Santa Monica, CA
The Honest Company is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. A Safer Choice partner since 2012, The Honest Company showed leadership by working with Safer Choice starting at the research and development phase to ensure that they could achieve certification for their cleaning products. In 2017, The Honest Company added 24 Safer Choice-certified products. The company displays the Safer Choice label prominently on their certified products and promotes Safer Choice on their website, in live streaming platforms (Facebook/Instagram Live) and in blogs (e.g., “The Safer Choice Label”) to their more than 2 million followers. Safer Choice commends The Honest Company for its continued commitment to creating and offering products with safer ingredients.
Jelmar, LLC, Skokie, IL
Jelmar, LLC is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. Safer Choice recognizes Jelmar for its leadership in promoting its 10 Safer Choice-certified products. Of special note, the company has shown exceptional leadership in promoting its safer products through a variety of channels—including TV, video, and mixed media—to target consumers, providing helpful information about the Safer Choice label and program. In 2017, Jelmar’s advertising featuring the Safer Choice label reached an audience of more than 800 million, in addition to 18 media placements with an audience reach of over 7.5 million , and nine tradeshows with marketing materials explaining Safer Choice.
Local Hazardous Waste Management Program in King County, WA
Local Hazardous Waste Management Program (LHWMP), a local government collaborative program in King County, Washington is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Supporter. In 2017, LHWMP handed out posters, flyers, and green cleaning kits to educate their community about the Safer Choice label. LHWMP’s regional EnviroStars program also offers resources and incentives to green businesses. Safer Choice applauds LHWMP’s commitment to the program and chemical risk reduction.
Pacific Lutheran University, Tacoma, WA
Pacific Lutheran University is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Supporter. Safer Choice applauds the Safer Choice Campaign Team in the School of Arts and Communication for their strong promotion of the program. In 2017, the team conducted interactive on-campus events to raise awareness of Safer Choice. The student-led initiative resulted in the on-campus store selling only Safer Choice-certified products. The team also developed a video tutorial for other schools to use demonstrating their awareness campaign planning and implementation process.
Simple Green, Huntington Beach, CA
Simple Green is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. In 2017, Simple Green introduced nine Safer Choice-certified all-purpose cleaner and degreaser products that prominently display the Safer Choice label on the front of their packaging. Simple Green also partnered with a major chemical manufacturer to develop new ingredients approved for products with outdoor applications. Safer Choice commends Simple Green for their innovation and commitment to environmental stewardship.
Solugen, Inc., Houston, TX
Solugen Inc. is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Innovator. Solugen developed a unique process for manufacturing hydrogen peroxide from plant starch and brought Safer Choice-certified peroxide wipes to market. Solugen engaged in multiple outreach and advocacy efforts on the importance of safer products and safer chemistries in 2017, reaching an audience of over one million. Safer Choice applauds Solugen for its strong commitment to environmental stewardship, including the use of 100% renewable energy in its manufacturing process.
State Industrial Products, Mayfield Heights, OH
State Industrial Products is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Formulator-Product Manufacturer. State Industrial Products has been a Safer Choice partner since 2002 and has 11 Safer Choice-certified products. State Industrial Products is committed to formulating all new green products using the CleanGredients® database and the Safer Chemical Ingredients List. In 2017, State Industrial recertified seven of its Safer Choice-certified products. State Industrial Products’ website prominently features the Safer Choice label, and the company strongly promotes Safer Choice in their product literature, published articles, and social media. In the spring of 2017, State Industrial published a blog, “How Eco is Your Spring Cleaning?” in which they encouraged customers to seek out Safer Choice-certified products. Safer Choice applauds State Industrial Products for its long-standing commitment to Safer Choice, and its active efforts to raise awareness about the program.
Wegmans Food Markets, Inc., Rochester, NY
Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. is recognized as an outstanding Safer Choice Retailer. Wegmans carries 17 store-branded Safer Choice-certified products in addition to a variety of certified national brands. Wegmans started rolling out its Safer Choice-certified store brands in 2017 and created a “playbook” in advance that was sent to all stores to educate the employees about Safer Choice. In 2017, Wegmans also created an integrated marketing campaign to educate its customers about what the Safer Choice label means. Safer Choice recognizes Wegmans for its prominent use of the Safer Choice label and for fostering awareness of the program through their website, direct mail advertisements, employee education, and in-store displays. Safer Choice also applauds Wegmans for its exceptional commitment to transition all Wegmans brand household cleaning products, laundry detergents, and dish detergents to Safer Choice-certified formulas.
