Summary of Yakima Particulate Matter (PM-10) Attainment Plan

Yakima, Washington, was designated nonattainment for PM10 and classified as moderate on August 7, 1987.

Washington submitted a PM10 attainment plan on March 24, 1989 with additional submittals between 1992 and 1995. EPA approved the plan on February 2, 1998 (63 FR 5269 (PDF)(4 pp, 127 K, About PDF)).

The plan relies on control strategies needed to assure attainment of the PM10 National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). The strategy focuses on control of residential wood smoke combustion.
