PRZM3 is the most recent version of the PRZM modeling system that links two subordinate models--PRZM and VADOFT--in order to predict pesticide transport and transformation down through the crop root and unsaturated zones. __________________________________________________________________________ DOCUMENTATION Copies of the following documents are included within the Internet distribution file Install_PRZM3122.EXE. Run Time Requirements: DOS or operating system capable of emulating a DOS console (e.g., Win9x/NT/2K/XP) Approximately 18 MB available hard disk storage. Uninstalling Previous Versions of PRZM3: Earlier versions of PRZM3 should be removed before installing version 3.12.2. To uninstall PRZM3 version 3.12.1 use one of the following methods: Execute Install_PRZM3121.EXE and follow the instructions provided to remove the program. or Use the Windows Start menu to select Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs to remove the program. To uninstall PRZM3 version 3.12 Beta and earlier versions: Remove versions of PRZM3 which do not appear in the Add/Remove Programs list by manually deleting all executable files, directories, and support files. To install PRZM3 version 3.12.2: The PRZM3 installation file, Install_PRZM3122.EXE, may be acquired either from the Internet or CD-ROM. Save the installation file to a local disk before running the installation program. Close all applications and click on the installation program "Install_PRZM3122.EXE". Follow the instructions presented by the installation program. __________________________________________________________________________ FILE NAME AND CONTENT After installation, the following file and directory structure should exist in the installation directory of your local disk. ABSTRACT.TXT - PRZM3 model system abstract. README.TXT - PRZM3 model system execution and general support guide. RELEASE.TXT - Summary of corrections and/or changes between release versions. \MANUAL - This directory contains the PRZM3 model documentation and users' manual "PRZM-3, A Model for Predicting Pesticide and Nitrogen Fate in the Crop Root and Unsaturated Soil Zones: Users Manual for Release 3.12.2". This document is in Adobe Acrobat format. \SOURCE - This directory contains PRZM3 model executable file (przm312.exe), source code (*.for, *.f90, *.inc) and Lahey specific compilation and linking files. The "Libs" subdirectory contains precompiled utility libraries having routines necessary to link the model. \TEST - This directory contains a PRZM3 command input file (przm3.run), an example parameter input file (ms1cttr-r.inp) and an installation testing script (ptest.bat) to run the model. The "met" subdirectory contains the test run meteorological input file and the "output" subdirectory contains PRZM3 model output data and control files that can be used as references in file comparisons for the purpose of installation verification. __________________________________________________________________________ INSTALLATION VERIFICATION 1) Run the model: from a DOS window set the default directory to \TEST. Enter "ptest.bat". This can be accomplished from the Windows environment by clicking on "ptest.bat" from within an Explorer window. The model (executable located in the \SOURCE directory) will generate several output files (38 output data and control files). 2) With the Windiff program or other suitable file comparison program, compare the output files just generated with the like-named reference files contained in the \OUTPUT subdirectory. If the number and content of the files compare as identical, a successful installation has been accomplished. __________________________________________________________________________ DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM The following specification describes the development tools used by the U.S. EPA Center for Exposure Assessment Modeling to compile and test version 3.12.2 of the PRZM3 model system. Compiler: Lahey/Fujitsu Fortran LF95 Pro version 5.7 Test Hardware: IBM Netvista Desktop PC Pentium 4 1.8 GHz 640 MB RAM Test Operating Systems: Windows 98/NT/2000/XP __________________________________________________________________________ MODIFICATION PRZM3 source code is included in this distribution package. The U.S. EPA CEAM cannot support, maintain, and/or be responsible for modifications that change the function of any executable task image file (*.EXE) or DOS batch command file (*.BAT) supplied with this model package. __________________________________________________________________________ TECHNICAL HELP CONTACT For questions or information concerning the distribution or installation of PRZM-3 software, documentation, or data please contact CEAM at: Phone: 706-355-8400 Fax: 706-355-8104 E-mail: ceam@epamail.epa.gov Mail: Center for Exposure Assessment Modeling (CEAM) National Exposure Research Laboratory - Ecosystems Research Division U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) 960 College Station Road Athens, Georgia 30605-2700 CEAM operates and maintains a listserver system named CEAM-USERS.
