EPA hosted SmartWay Affiliate, the North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE).  Recently NACFE worked with 6 fleets (5 of which are SmartWay partners) and one owner-operator to conduct a “Run On Less” experiment to see what fuel economy could be achieved with the best production tractors and trailers when driven by some of the most skilled drivers available, where the goal was to attain 9 MPG.
