The new year is a great time to reflect, align your focus, make improvements and set goals. Your members faced many challenges last year, and are looking for ways to be even more resilient and more productive in the future. SmartWay can help your members and stakeholders establish goals around sustainable freight transportation with proven approaches and industry-driven strategies. Here are suggested ways for carriers and shippers to reduce transportation-related emissions, to help everyone meet their New Year goals for sustainable, efficient supply chains:

• Consider the range of fuel-saving technologies available including SmartWay verified tires and aerodynamic options.
• Procure the most fuel-efficient tractors and trailers practicable for your business needs, including SmartWay designated tractors and trailers.
• Shippers can encourage their carriers and suppliers to join the SmartWay program and take advantage of program resources to help cut fuel spend while protecting the environment.
• Shippers can develop or improve their freight sustainability strategy.
