SmartWay

SmartWay Shipper Benefits Estimator

Instructions

Ever wondered why so many companies have joined SmartWay? SmartWay carrier fleets measure and benchmark their performance and are placed into one of five performance ranks (Rank 1 is best.) By simply using SmartWay carriers, and especially better ranked SmartWay carriers, you can reduce pollution.

You can estimate the emissions savings you will achieve by using SmartWay carrier fleets with this calculator. Choose either the Basic version: you will choose a single SmartWay ranking for analysis, or Detailed: you will indicate the % of activity in each SmartWay rank.

This calculator will provide you with output estimates for Current and Target emissions, either in grams or pounds which you can configure here.

This page requires javascript to function, without it enabled you will not be able to input emissions or obtain calculations.

To see your current emissions, input your current freight activity by choosing a carrier type(s) (18 choices), inputting your activity, and your activity units (miles or ton-miles). Then choose your current SmartWay performance level (1 through 5) or choose NON-SmartWay if you don't use any SmartWay carriers.

Once done, your estimated emissions will be displayed at the bottom of the page. Click the "Target Freight Activity" tab to continue.

To see your current emissions, input your current freight activity by choosing a carrier type(s) (18 choices), inputting your activity, and your activity units (miles or ton-miles). Then input the percentage of carriers you use for each SmartWay Bin (1-5). If the carrier is not a SmartWay carrier count its percentage of activity as NON.

Once done, your estimated emissions will be displayed at the bottom of the page. Click the "Target Freight Activity" tab to continue.

When choosing performance level, you are choosing the same performance level for CO2, NOx and PM emissions. Actual SmartWay carriers are ranked individually for each pollutant for grams per mile and grams per ton-mile, resulting in 6 individual rankings per carrier fleet.
