EPA's Composite Model for Leachate Migration with Transformation Products (EPACMTP)

EPACMTP is a fate and transport model developed by EPA to simulate the release constituents from waste managed in land disposal units, and the subsequent impacts of these constituents to the subsurface environment.

The model combines two modules to simulate one-dimensional downward flow and transport of constituents in the unsaturated zone beneath a waste disposal unit, as well as ground water flow and three-dimensional constituent transport in the underlying saturated zone. The model is designed to run in a probabilistic or deterministic mode, and comes with built-in distributions of national and regional modeling parameters. The output of the model includes predicted concentrations of constituents arriving at a downgradient well under steady-state conditions or as a function of time.
