Voluntary Programs that Aim to Improve Transportation and Air Quality

Following is an alphabetical list of voluntary initiatives that can help state and local agencies, community groups, businesses and other organizations improve air quality by reducing emissions from the transportation sector.

  • Best Workplaces for Commuters Exit
    Learn how to provide employees with a comprehensive package of commuter benefits (e.g. tax-free transit passes, vanpool subsidies, telecommuting options) that can help save money, ease traffic congestions and improve air quality.
  • Green Vehicle Guide
    Annual guide that reports fuel economy and emissions of all newly manufactured vehicles.
  • It All Adds Up to Cleaner Air
    Public outreach program and materials to raise awareness and educate the public regarding the impact of travel choices on air quality, traffic congestion and public health.
  • National Clean Diesel Campaign
    Join EPA, other federal agencies, regional and state governments, community organizations, industry and others to reduce diesel emissions and protect human health and the environment. The campaign has developed strategies that target diesel emissions from five specific sectors, including school buses, ports, construction, freight and agriculture.
  • SmartWay Transport Partnership
    Participate in this program to provide incentives that will encourage retailers, and the freight sector (truck and rail) to reduce emissions from the transport of ground freight.
