Energy and Environment Guide to Action - Chapter 4.5: Lead by Example

This document is 'Chapter 4.5: Lead by Example' of the Energy and Environment Guide to Action. State and local governments are implementing a range of policies and programs that advance clean energy within their own facilities, fleets, and operations. These "lead by example" initiatives help state and local governments achieve substantial energy cost savings and greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions while promoting adoption of clean energy technologies by the public and private sectors.

This chapter provides recommendations on designing, implementing, and evaluating how states can "lead by example" in their energy efficiency programs. State success stories are included for reference.
