Surface Coating of Wood Building Products Residual Risk and Technology Review

This source category includes facilities that perform surface coating operations to produce a variety of products, including flooring, interior paneling and exterior siding.  EPA has determined that risks are acceptable and did not find broadly applicable changes in practices, processes or control technologies that would reduce emissions further. EPA is finalizing minor amendments to the existing regulations. This action clarifies that the standards are applicable during periods of startup, shutdown and malfunction. EPA is also changing the requirements for deviation reporting for this source category and finalizing a 6-month period to allow affected facilities sufficient time to understand the changes in the standard and achieve compliance.
