Memorandum of Understanding Among Federal Agencies and Food Waste Reduction Alliance

On October 30, 2019 the leaders of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and U.S. Department of Agriculture signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the founding partners of the Food Waste Reduction Alliance (Grocery Manufacturers Association, Food Marketing Institute, and National Restaurant Association) relative to collaboration on industry education and engagement with respect to the importance of food waste reduction. The parties intend the MOU to formalize a mutual initiative to collaborate on industry education and outreach efforts.  The memorandum was signed by GEOFF FREEMAN, President and Chief Executive Officer, Grocery Manufacturers Association; DAWN SWEENEY, President and Chief Executive Officer, National Restaurant Association; LESLIE SARASIN, President and Chief Executive Officer, Food Marketing Institute; ANDREW WHEELER, Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, SONNY PERDUE, Secretary of the Department of Agriculture; and NORMAN E. SHARPLESS, M.D., Acting Commissioner for Food and Drugs.
