November - River Rendezvous

The River Rendezvous -- a Chattahoochee River Keeper and West Atlanta Watershed Alliance event that brings many citizens, government, and local partners to Proctor Creek to learn about water quality monitoring and sampling and cleaning of the creek -- was held on Saturday, November 7, 2015. This was the second annual event and it was a huge success drawing more than 50 residents, partners, and local college students with lots of enthusiasm out for a wet weather monitoring event. The event is  intended as a “snapshot” for community training and engagement. The CRK’s data-sharing workshop will be held in the upcoming months where they will release and explain the data from this sampling.

November - Building a Bridge Between Campus and Community Through Green Infrastructure

An Atlanta University Center Community Forum on Green Infrastructure was held on Saturday November 14, 2015. Participation helped bridge the gap between the English Avenue, Vine City and AUC communities, making the campuses more sustainable and helping reduce the impact of downstream flooding in the Proctor Creek Watershed. Another highly successful event,  this forum was presented by Environmental Community Action Inc. (ECO-Action), CAU Dual Degree Engineering Program in collaboration with the CAU Living Green Club, CAU Minority Association of PreHealth and Pre-Medical Students, Spelman College Environmental Task Force, Proctor Creek Stewardship Council, Community Improvement Association (CIA), West Atlanta Watershed Alliance and Metro Atlanta Urban Watershed Institute (MAUWI). It is an integral component of the Green Infrastructure Initiative at the Atlanta University Center project funded by the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Urban Waters Small Grants program.

November - Wanted: Urban Waters Ambassador for Proctor Creek

The RFP for the selection of the Proctor Creek Ambassador has been approved by Region 4 and will be posted on Grants.gov. Region 4 will also request resumes from the federal partners of those interested in the ambassador position concurrently with the release of the RFP. The hope is to have the ambassador announced at the January Proctor Creek Community Partnership meeting.
