Decision Support Guidance for Sustainable Communities
Researchers at EPA focus on providing support guidance to community decision-makers around the country to help them make informed, sustainable decisions.
- Community Solutions for Voluntary Long-Term Stormwater Planning. On October 27, 2016, EPA announced a draft guide, toolkit, and technical assistance to promote comprehensive, community-wide planning approaches to manage stormwater. EPA considers this guide a draft that will be supplemented with an integrated online tool to assist communities in implementing the planning process, piloted through community-based technical assistance efforts, and updated over time with feedback from users.
- Greening CSO Plans. This technical resource assists communities in developing and evaluating Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) control alternatives that include green infrastructure.
- Research Supporting Green Infrastructure Performance & Effectiveness in the Mid-Atlantic. EPA is currently conducting stormwater runoff research in urban areas, such as Philadelphia and the Chesapeake Bay watershed. EPA will provide findings and best practices that other communities facing similar challenges can use.
- Improving Community Resilience with Green Infrastructure. Learn more about how Milwaukee, WI; the Jersey shore; Nashville, TN; and Pima County, AZ use green infrastructure to help address their environmental challenges.
