Project Description

The RiverRenew project will remediate four Combined Sewer Overflow Outfalls in Alexandria to prevent millions of gallons of sewage mixed with rainwater from contaminating Hooffs Run, Hunting Creek, and the Potomac River. Upon its completion, the average volume of overflows to Alexandria’s receiving waters will go from 140 million gallons to less than 16 million gallons and the frequency of overflows will go from 70 events to less than 4 on an annual average basis.
