Project Type: Drinking Water
Project Description
The Huntington Beach Desalination Plant Project will construct a seawater desalination facility that would convert seawater into 50 million gallons per day (MGD) of potable drinking water using a reverse osmosis desalination process. The purpose of the project is to provide high-quality, locally-controlled, drought-proof drinking water. It will meet approximately 10 percent of Orange County residents' water demands and protect the County against the public health, security and economic consequences of water shortages.
