Project Description

The Milwaukee Waterway Flood Management and Restoration Projects will include: 1) Wilson Park Creek Flood Management Project; 2) West Basin Flood Management Project, which will construct a 31-million-gallon, 100-year stormwater facility and appurtenant storm sewers; and 3) Area of Concern’s Dredged Management Facility which will excavate contaminated sediments from the estuary. The purpose of the three projects is to improve Lake Michigan’s water quality and protect the drinking water supply of 1.1 million people by reducing the risk of sewer overflows and by dredging over 2 million cubic yards of contaminated sediments from the Milwaukee Estuary.
