Field Audit Checklist Tool (FACT)

The Field Audit Checklist Tool (FACT) is a Windows desktop application developed by EPA's Clean Air Markets Division (CAMD). FACT is intended to help auditors perform field audits of facilities that report data under 40 CFR Part 75. FACT allows users to easily view monitoring plan, quality assurance and emissions data. FACT also provides access to data collected under the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS).

What are the requirements to install FACT?

In order to install FACT, you need to have Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 or above installed on your machine. While the .NET Framework comes preinstalled on Microsoft Windows it is possible that you may not have the version required by FACT. If this is the case, you will be prompted to install it as part of the FACT installation process. Installing the .NET Framework requires administrative privileges.

How do I install FACT?

Start by downloading the setup.exe file.  Once you finish downloading the file, open it. Depending on the security settings in your environment, you may need to allow the file to be run. After allowing the file, click “Install.” This should begin the installation process. When a splash screen of FACT and the EPA seal appears, click “Connect” to start using the tool.

What are the security settings for FACT?

The FACT application relies on Microsoft’s ClickOnce technology.  ClickOnce applications installed from the web run in a “sandbox” that inherits permissions based on security settings set for that environment. FACT does not collect any personal information. Each request to the web server gathers the date and time, originating IP address, the data that was requested, and the completion status of the request.
