Puerto Rico Renewable Energy Project, PR

A new resource recovery facility capable of generating 77 MW. The facility includes two identical municipal solid waste combustors (i.e., spreader-stoker boilers), a steam turbine-electrical-generator, ash handling system, emergency diesel-generator and fire pump, a “four-cell” cooling tower, and carbon and lime storage silos. The two combustors will be fueled, primarily, by 2,106 tons per day of refuse-derived municipal solid waste. The combustors’ supplementary fuels (used to substitute for a portion of refuse-derived fuel) comprise of auto-shredder residue, tire-derived fuel, and processed urban wood waste.
The air pollution control equipment comprises of Regenerative Selective Catalytic Reduction system, Oxidation Catalyst,
Fabric Filter systems, Turbosorp circulating dry scrubber with lime injection, and Activated carbon injection system.
