This handbook provides the land trust community with a framework to advance and professionalize the long-term stewardship of compensatory mitigation sites. This handbook also recognizes a range of roles that land trusts can play in compensatory mitigation beyond stewardship, including serving as a mitigation provider, guiding site selection, carrying out compensation on their own lands, and participating in restoration projects.
