EPA Federal Information Systems
The term "information system" (defined in OMB Circular A-130, (6)(Q)) means a discrete set of information resources organized for the collection, processing, maintenance, transmission and dissemination of information, in accordance with defined procedures, whether automated or manual.
Systems that include a link in the "EPA System of Records" column have a Privacy Act System of Records and published notices in the Federal Register.
Systems that include a link in the "Privacy Impact Assessments" column contain identifiable information about members of the public. Systems noted below as having an "Internal" Privacy Impact Assessment involve EPA employees only.

The Environmental Protection Agency recognizes the importance of protecting the privacy of individuals, especially as it modernizes and develops its systems and desktop applications. Privacy issues must be addressed when systems are being developed and privacy protections must be integrated into the development life cycle of automated systems. The Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) is the tool for addressing privacy issues. The PIA process provides a means to assure compliance with applicable laws and regulations governing the privacy of individuals.
The E-Government Act of 2002 and the Office of Management and Budget implementing guidance require federal agencies to make PIAs that collect information from or about the public available through some mechanism (website, Federal Register, other). EPA determined that posting PIAs subject to the E-Gov requirement on the Agency's website is the most practicable form of public disclosure.

The Environmental Protection Agency recognizes the importance of protecting the privacy of individuals, especially as it modernizes and develops its systems and desktop applications. Privacy issues must be addressed when systems are being developed and privacy protections must be integrated into the development life cycle of automated systems. The Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) is the tool for addressing privacy issues. The PIA process provides a means to assure compliance with applicable laws and regulations governing the privacy of individuals.
The E-Government Act of 2002 and the Office of Management and Budget implementing guidance require federal agencies to make PIAs that collect information from or about the public available through some mechanism (website, Federal Register, other). EPA determined that posting PIAs subject to the E-Gov requirement on the Agency's website is the most practicable form of public disclosure.
