Managing the Quality of Environmental Data at EPA Region 10

The Region 10 Quality Assurance Program is managed by a QA Manager and various Regional Quality Staff and QA Coordinators.  These are comprised of a senior level non-supervisory Regional QA Manager and various chemists and environmental scientists who reside in the Laboratory Services and Applied Science Division (LSASD) and the Superfund and Emergency Management Division (SEMD).

The Regional QA Manager reports directly to the LSASD Director and is independent of all environmental data generation activities.  QA Coordinators for the Air Program, Water Modeling, Emergency Response and Regional Laboratory have delegated authority to approve QA Documents for their specific Program areas whereas Quality Staff within the LSASD Environmental Characterization Branch have delegated authority to approve QA documents throughout the Region.
