Five-Year Reviews of Superfund Site Cleanups and Remedies in EPA Region 2 (New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands)

EPA conducts evaluations every five years at Superfund sites, including federal facilities, listed on the National Priorities List. In these evaluations, we look at the implementation and performance of a remedy so we can determine if the remedy:
  • is, and will continue to be, protective of human health and the environment, and
  • is functioning as intended by the decision documents.

The methods, findings, and conclusions of reviews are documented in the five-year review. In addition, five-year review reports identify issues found during the review, if any, and document recommendations to address them. Read more about five-year reviews.

Superfund sites where EPA will begin five-year reviews in various fiscal years are identified below. Click on each link to find:
  • detailed information on the site status, past assessment, and cleanup activity, and
  • contact information for the EPA Remedial Project Manager and Community Involvement Coordinator at each site.

Community members and local officials are invited to call or write EPA with any comments or current concerns about a Superfund site, or about the conclusions of previous five-year reviews at a site.
