Remedy Selection at Superfund Dioxin Sites

An EPA fact sheet on the management of dioxin-contaminated soils for use when selecting a remedy at Superfund sites. The fact sheet provides information on the disposal of dioxin-contaminated soil subject to RCRA Land Disposal Requirements (LDRs) as well as for contaminated soil not subject to Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Land Disposal Requirements (LDRs). Included in the fact sheet is the table Commercial Hazardous Waste Landfill Facilities in the United States – Permitted and Actively Managing RCRA Contaminated Soils. This table contains a list of commercial incinerators and landfills that are permitted and actively managing RCRA contaminated soils. While these facilities may not be specifically permitted to treat dioxin-contaminated soils, it provides a comprehensive list from which to identify potential treatment facilities.

To learn more about treatment technologies for the cleanup of dioxin-contaminated soils and sediments, and technologies used to date as well as promising methods.
