Jean Schwab, Senior Analyst, U.S. EPA
Jean is co-lead for the US EPA’s new Sustainable Food Management initiative at EPA Headquarters. She has worked in the resource conservation and recycling field for 20 years - including over 17 years at EPA. Jean is the EPA lead and subject matter expert for organic materials management issues and serves on a number of national initiatives as a technical expert on materials and environmental management. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Master’s degree in Urban & Environmental Planning.
Scott Jenkins, Vice President of Ballpark Operations, SAFECO Field/ Seattle Mariners
Scott Jenkins is in his sixth season as the Vice President of Ballpark Operations for the Seattle Mariners where he is responsible for overseeing all aspects of operating and managing Safeco Field. Prior to joining the Mariners, Jenkins spent three years with the Philadelphia Eagles where he opened and managed Lincoln Financial Field. From 1997-2002, Scott served as V.P. of Stadium Operations for the Milwaukee Brewers, where he opened Miller Park in 2002. Scott was the Director of Facilities and Events for Intercollegiate Athletics at the University of Wisconsin and was involved in the design and construction of the Kohl Center that opened in 1997. A native of Kenosha, WI, Jenkins graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1986 with a degree in Construction Administration and is a 2009 graduate of the University of Washington Executive MBA program. Jenkins currently serves as the Chair of the Green sports Alliance.
Shaun Kochivar, Manager of Environmental Sustainability, Albertsons/SUPERVALU
Shaun Kochivar has over 15 years of experience working in different parts of the Albertsons/SUPERVALU organization. Shaun’s first job with Albertsons was designing refrigeration systems utilizing MicroStation with his Mechanical Engineering degree from Montana State University in Bozeman, MT. He authored the design manual for both the internal and external engineers for all future projects.
Shaun was then promoted to Construction Manager and built and remodeled food stores, stand-alone drug stores, and convenience fuel centers geographically along the western states from Montana down to Southern California. Shaun then expanded his knowledge of the grocery business in a two-year commitment within SUPERVALU earning Six Sigma Lean Certification.
Shaun now oversees SUPERVALU’s recycling programs, which have seen over 100% improvement to the company bottom line under his watch. Shaun implemented a construction waste management specification for all projects that includes reporting to drive results, awareness, and cost savings. Shaun has also added the company waste expense to his responsibilities, including Fat & Bone rendering and organic composting/diversion programs, along with grease trap national contract negotiations.
