Summary
Project Background Information: Kinder Morgan CO2 Company LP has requested a Class I renewal permit for disposal of non-hazardous waste originating from its CO2 source field operations in the McElmo Dome and Doe Canyon Fields in southwest Colorado. The renewal permit is for continued operation of the Hovenweep 1 well located in Montezuma County, Colorado and with injection perforations in the Leadville and Ouray Formations. In addition, the renewal permit proposes to expand the authorized injection zone to include the Elbert and Cambrian Formations below the existing perforated interval in the Leadville and Ouray Formations to ensure that injected fluids remain within the authorized injection zone.
Proposed Action: The EPA proposes issuance of a ten year renewal permit to authorize an expanded injection zone and continued operation of an existing Class I non-hazardous waste disposal well located in Montezuma County, Colorado.
