Summary

Middle Fork Energy Uinta, LLC, has requested three Permits for disposal of Class II waste associated with oil and gas production within the Natural Buttes oil field in Uintah County, Utah. The proposed injection zone is the Green River Formation at depths varying between 3,200 and 4,000 feet below ground surface. This is a common zone for oil and gas waste disposal in the Uinta Basin of Utah and is isolated from the nearest drinking water source by three-hundred feet of confinement in the upper Green River Formation.

Proposed Action: The EPA proposes issuance of Draft Class II Permits to authorize Class II waste disposal wells on BLM-owned land within the exterior boundary of the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation in Uintah County, Utah.
