Project Background Information: Oxy USA, Incorporated has requested a Class I renewal permit for disposal of non-hazardous waste originating from its CO₂ extraction operations in the Sheep Mountain CO₂ Field in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of central southern Colorado. The renewal permit is for continued operation of the Garcia No. 1 well located in Huerfano County, Colorado and with injection perforations in the Dakota Formation.
