Please view and share the recorded Public Health Expert webinar and accompanying slides from our recent Ask the Expert panel for parents and caregivers!

Participants asked questions in English and Spanish to Western States Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit (WSPEHSU) and EPA panelists on how to protect their kids from wildfire smoke, how to safely clean and disinfect their homes, and how to support their family’s mental health during these challenging times.

This event was hosted in recognition of Children's Health Month and Binational Health Month. It was co-sponsored by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Pacific Southwest Region (Region 9), and North American Development Bank (NADB). Simultaneous interpretation was provided through Border 2020 Program.

Air Quality and Wildfire Smoke Videos

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency coordinated with Western States Pediatric Environmental Specialty Unit panelist Dr. Stephanie Holm to create a short informational video on ways to protect children from wildfire smoke. The U.S. EPA also developed two new videos to explain how to access air quality information and how to use the Air Quality Index. ¡Vea la grabación del seminario web por expertos en salud pública y las diapositivas adjuntas de nuestro reciente panel para padres de familia y cuidadores: Pregúntele al experto!

Los participantes hicieron preguntas en inglés y español a panelistas expertos de la Unidad Especializada en Salud Ambiental Pediátrica de los Estados del Oeste (WSPEHSU, su siglas en inglés), y la Agencia de Protección Ambiental de EE.UU. (USEPA, sus siglas en inglés) sobre cómo proteger a sus hijos del humo de los incendios forestales, cómo limpiar y desinfectar sus hogares de manera segura y cómo preservar la salud mental de sus familias en estos tiempos difíciles.

Este evento se realizó en reconocimiento al Mes de la Salud Infantil y al Mes Binacional de la Salud. Fue copatrocinado por la Región Pacífico Sudoeste de la Agencia de Protección Ambiental de EE. UU. (Región 9) y el Banco de Desarrollo de América del Norte (BDAN, su siglas en inglés). Se brindó interpretación simultánea a través del Programa Frontera 2020.
