America’s Water Infrastructure Act of 2018: Spill Notification and Access to Chemical Inventory Data

On October 23, 2018, America’s Water Infrastructure Act (AWIA) was signed into law, amending the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA). The attached fact sheet provides an overview of these amendments to EPCRA, which require that:

  • Community water systems receive prompt notification of releases that are reportable under EPCRA, section 304.
  • Community water systems are given access to hazardous chemical inventory data that is reported under EPCRA, section 312.
