America's Water Infrastructure Act Section 2013 Compliance Data

The data below list the community drinking water systems (CWSs) impacted by the risk and resilience assessment and emergency response plan certification requirements under Section 2013 of AWIA, as well as data on the CWSs that have complied with the law. If you have questions about this data, please contact dwresilience@epa.gov.

Large-Sized Community Water Systems – Those Serving Populations of 100,000 People and Greater:

Medium-Sized Community Water Systems – Those Serving Populations of 50,000 to 99,999 People:

  • All Medium-Sized CWSs
  • All Medium-Sized CWSs that have certified completion of their Risk and Resilience Assessment (data will be available after the December 31, 2020  compliance deadline)
  • All Medium-Sized CWSs that have certified completion of their Emergency Response Plan (data will be available after the June 30, 2021 compliance deadline)

Small-Sized Community Water Systems – Those Serving Populations of 3,301 to 49,999 People:

  • All Small-Sized CWSs (data coming soon)
  • All Small-Sized CWSs that have certified completion of their Risk and Resilience Assessment (data will be available after the June 30, 2021 compliance deadline)
  • All Small-Sized CWSs that have certified completion of their Emergency Response Plan (data will be available after the December 31, 2021 compliance deadline)

Wholesale Community Water Systems – Those that sell or provide water to other CWSs:

When determining population served, CWS wholesalers should account for the community or communities to which they sell or provide water. Based on EPA data, the majority of the systems on the list below are small systems (those serving populations of 3,301 to 49,999 people). If your system serves 50,000 or more people, you must comply by the appropriate deadline.

  • All Wholesale CWSs (data coming soon)
  • All Wholesale CWSs that have certified completion of their Risk and Resilience Assessment (data will be available after the June 30, 2021 compliance deadline)
  • All Wholesale CWSs that have certified completion of their Emergency Response Plan (data will be available after the December 31, 2021 compliance deadline)
