The EPA has transitioned from previous data collection methods to a web-based application that streamlines and modernizes the process that UIC programs use to submit well inventory and compliance data (Form 7520-1, -2A, -2B, -3, and -4) to EPA. The new UIC Data Application replaced both hardcopy submissions of the Form 7520 and electronic submissions to the National UIC Database starting in spring 2019. Inventory is also now submitted through the new application instead of through the Inventory and Measures Reporting System.
The new application allows programs to submit inventory and Form 7520 data in two ways: manual entry of data into a webform or upload data into the application using an Excel spreadsheet (.xlsx) or comma-separated value (.csv) file (referred to as “batch upload”). If a program chooses to batch upload data, the application will automatically populate the appropriate webform with data from the uploaded file. Programs must format their batch upload data according to the appropriate template, which is available for download below. If the data is not formatted in the same way as the template, the application will not accept the data.
Instructions for state, tribal, and EPA Regional UIC staff who need access to the UIC Data Application are found below. The UIC Data Application may be accessed directly, https://uicdata.epa.gov or by using the hyperlinked text in the previous paragraphs.
