Poland ranks 9th in global coal production – nearly 145 million metric tons (Mmt) in 2012 – and 11th in coal mine methane (CMM) emissions, which are projected to approach 9 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MTCO2E) by 2020. Cooperative Agreements

To support GMI core activities, as well as the coal-specific action plan developed by the Initiative, EPA has awarded three grants for projects in Poland promoting CMM recovery and utilization.
