The Russian Federation ranks 6th in global coal production – nearly 335 million metric tons (Mmt) in 2012 – and 3rd in coal mine methane (CMM) emissions, which are projected to exceed 60 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MTCO2E) by 2020.   • Uglemetan - Russian Federation CMM/CBM Clearinghouse Exit – Based in Kemerovo, Uglemetan was established in April 2002 on the foundation created by the work of the Russian Federation Coalbed Methane Center. Uglemetan is organized as an autonomous not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting CBM/CMM recovery and utilization in the Russian Federation and other countries of the Former Soviet Union.
