You may need a PDF reader to view some of the files on this page. See EPA’s About PDF page to learn more.

Poland ranks 9th in global coal production – nearly 145 million metric tons (Mmt) in 2012 – and 11th in coal mine methane (CMM) emissions, which are projected to approach 9 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MTCO2E) by 2020. An overview of Poland’s coal mining history and current methane recovery and use efforts can be found in the Global Methane Initiative Coal Mine Methane Country Profile: Poland (June 2015) (PDF) (17 pp, 2 MB) Exit

Cooperative Agreements

To support GMI core activities, as well as the coal-specific action plan developed by the Initiative, EPA has awarded three grants for projects in Poland promoting CMM recovery and utilization.
